November went quickly by with a few exciting things. I did another Ragnar race on the 9th and 10th in Las Vegas, NV. I don't think it had the magic of the first one but it was still awesome and as always, I can't wait to do my next one! Sadly, I didn't take my camera so I don't have any pictures to share. We drove all the way there and back and I have to say, those 16hour trips were pretty fun. Sure love my friends!
Thanksgiving was spent in Pullman this year with a few other families that were also here. The food was amazing and the decorations were stunning (you're amazing Chelsea!) and even though we were away from family it was nice to be with good friends.
Later that night, I did a little Black Friday shopping with some friends which was surprisingly fun and there were a lot of great deals!

So I Don't Forget
The other night I told Kharisma to go get her pajamas on and she impatiently said, "Just a minute, old lady!" to which I replied, "Hey, I'm not an old lady!" Then, in her sweetest little voice and her head cocked to the side, she batted her eyelashes and said, "But old ladies are nice!" Bah.
Just today she was putting on about 7 different chap sticks/lip glosses that she found in my purse and put on my gold hoop ear rings that I wore for my Halloween pirate costume. She sat up on the couch, straight and tall saying, "I'm a lady." I laughed and asked her what ladies do. She thought a moment, "I don't know... hit with their purses." Haha!!

Looking back...
18 months ago I had this little munchkin.
I love him SO much.
(Don't mind the goofy look on my face, I wasn't ready)
He seriously has stolen my heart. Willum is such a sweetheart. He gives hugs and kisses and cuddles and likes to be held. His smile is just too cute. He's healthy and happy and perfect.
Yet, when I think back on his birth I feel like something is missing.
I started watching More Business of Being Born on Netflix and it goes in to more depth on childbirth in the United States and it has really done something to me:
1) Rekindled the flame inside me of wanting to be a doula
and
2) Makes me feel cheated on Willum's birth
I know, I shouldn't complain, I got a healthy baby boy out if it.
Why should it matter how he got here?
But it does, to me, anyway.
I just heard someone (on the show) who had a c-section say that they feel like they don't have the right to complain or even talk about their c-section because the outcome was what was more important. I think that's how I feel too. I even find myself telling people that I HAD to have a c-section. In reality, I didn't. Willum was just coming out feet first. He was fine, no health problems. I don't blame my midwife, she has it in her contract that she doesn't deliver breech babies at home. The reason I did have a c-section is because nobody around here would deliver a baby feet-first. OBs aren't even trained anymore how to do it.
It's very possible. It's been done before.
Watching the show has brought back all these feelings.
I could go in to all the details about the differences between Kharisma's natural birth and Willum's surgical birth but that's not what I'm dwelling on. I just can't get over the feeling of not experiencing Willum's birth. I don't feel like I was there, I just feel like it happened. I know there are people out there that love c-sections and that's fine, I love you, I don't care what other people do, as long as it was their choice. I'm all about women being able to choose and know their options.
The feeling is just so hard to explain.
Call me crazy :)
I know I usually don't make such serious posts but I have all these thoughts and feelings I couldn't think of a way to get it out.
Anyway...
I won't let all my crazy show.
Maybe I'll just write it down in a notebook.
The old-fashion way.

First Day of School
Kharisma started preschool this fall.
She LOVES it.
She never remembers anything she did that day when I ask her
or who she played with
or what she learned but she sure loves it.
She loves to pack up her backpack with just about anything she can fit in it.
Last week at bed time she told me that she wants to go to school forever.
I said, "Don't worry, you will."
Just cute
I have a friend that is magical with pictures.
I love this picture.
(So much so that I had to post both versions)
Even Kharisma's goofy grin is cute.
It makes me realize though that I don't take enough pictures with me in them with my kids.
Summer Segment 4
Team relay race number two!
This one, the Epic, was from Smithfield, Ut to Jackson Hole, Wy.
My team, "All In the Family" was made up mostly of relatives. We did have to adopt a few people though. Again, an awesome experience! My legs of the race were a little harder than Ragnar, it was a bit hotter, and I actually got a little more sleep. My mom and dad followed along for support. My mom was on the team but came down with vertigo the week of the race but still came along.

| My parents and me, after my last run. Don't mind the sweat, I'm an animal. |
Then, two weeks after that I ran a half marathon!
I know, summer of running.
Words of encouragement from mom.

| Finished! |
My goal for the half was to not walk and to finish. Did it.
My time was 2 hours and 21 minutes. Better than I expected actually. The last mile was the hardest but only because I thought I was already on my last mile (I thought I heard some body say it was) and then saw the 12 mile mark and my body started shutting down. I felt like a zombie during the last 1/2 mile. But, I survived. I even went wake boarding later that day. By day three I wasn't sore anymore. I'm pretty sure I'll run a 1/2 again but I really have no desire to do a full. Yes, I'd love to be able to, but the training that is required sounds awful. Maybe someday though.

The weekend of my 1/2 was also the weekend that Ben's family had our annual boating trip. My father-in-law was finally talked in to buying a boat so we spent the weekend at Bear Lake. The kids loved the beach and the boat.
So, we had a really busy and fun summer. Ben spent two weeks in CA at a vet clinic in Santa Rosa. It's a possible clinic for an internship, if he chooses to do one. His possibilities are almost endless so we're just trying to decide which road to take. He has loved 4th year so far, it's been busy but he loves being able to do the hands-on work finally. Our time in Pullman has gone by a lot faster than I thought it would. I don't like thinking about leaving our friends that we've made here.
